She is pretty (though she has body image issues and thinks she's fat). She has friends (though not as many as she thinks she should have). She has two parents and a sweet little sister. I majorly adored this novel because Anna is a NORMAL girl with depression. It is a funny novel about depression, which is freaking brilliant, because what depressed person wants to read about how depressing it is to be depressed? During her stay, she meets a host of surprisingly normal teens (you know, despite the hearing voices and pretend babies and seizures), endures incredibly strange rules and farting chairs, and learns that maybe she is much stronger and prettier than she ever imagined. Get Well Soon is about a girl named Anna Bloom who gets sent to a mental hospital for depression. Because it's important, guys, very, very important. So this is the part where I gush about the importance of this novel. So rebel, right? Also really annoying, because now having read it I am flaming raging mad that anyone could completely miss the point of this amazing little book. Yes, Julie has been BANNED (and challenged). And now that I'm finally done with edits on my WIP, I grabbed Get Well Soon to read for Banned Books Week.

Into The Wild Nerd Yonder is one of my favorite books. If you've read this blog for a while, you know that I'm a huge, squealing fangirl of Julie Halpern.

~Due to content in the book I do not recommend anyone under the age 14 read this book.You want to read this book. And to teens that love a book that will make them laugh non-stop. I recommend this book to any teen that wants a fun easy read (which is great because it is the summer).

I felt like I knew Anna the second I started reading the book. Julie Halpern did a great job of creating Anna Bloom. This book made me laugh continuously! Anna finds humor in everything that is done in the hospital. But since it was a short book (only 193 pages) I couldn't write more because I would give the book away. But she also makes friends with a guy that might not even get out of the loony bin till he dies, a guy that is shy who might like her, and a girl that becomes her roommate and best friend. At the loony bin Anna meets a lot of teens that are insane, unlike her. Anna Bloom's parents drop her off at the closest mental hospital, just because Anna is depressed.
